SUPPORT THE EXEMPTION OF MILITARY RETIREMENT PAY FROM STATE TAXATION
There are two pieces of state legislation in the 2021 session that would benefit APG and our community by supporting military retirees relocating to our region for employment at APG or surrounding businesses. These retirees have unique technical skills and existing security clearances. Maryland is competing for these individuals with other states that offer complete or more significant military retirement tax exemptions. NMTC WOMEN IN STEM SCHOLARSHIPS
The Northeastern Maryland Technology Council (NMTC) will award four NMTC/Bravura Women in STEM Scholarships for 2021. This unique annual program of four $5000 scholarships, is open to women graduating from Harford and Cecil County Maryland public and home schools, pursuing a four-year degree in the fields of Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM). To apply complete the application by February 26, 2021.
FREE ENTREPRENEUR TRAINING FOR VETERANS!
Project Opportunity is an intensive curriculum based 10-week cohort program. Training includes: Assessing Your Business Idea, Marketing Analysis, Financing and Financial Management, Business Structure and Taxes, and Development of a Business Plan. Through grants and community business support this program is free to all veterans. Register for the orientation session on February 16. CMMC Update - What you need to be prepared for in 2021. The Small and Emerging Contractors Advisory Forum (SECAF) webinar will be held February 17, noon to 1pm. The DoD has been trying to implement cybersecurity compliance rules (DFARS 204.252-7012) for the supply chain for several years and there was a lot of activity in this area in 2020 that will affect most government contractors in 2021 and beyond. This webinar will provide details about some of the latest changes/updates to the DoD's cybersecurity compliance programs. Register Here.
Aberdeen Young AFCEANS' Virtual Leadership Forum - An Evening with PEO IEW&S will be held February 17, 5 to 6:30pm. The forum includes a senior leader panel discussion followed by a Q&A.
