The Handmade Masks for Heroes Project is ongoing and is a way for local community members to support the needs of Maryland’s Veterans and the frontline VA employees at Perry Point Medical Center. For instructions on how to sew masks, please visit the CDC website and enter a search for “Use of Cloth Face Coverings” to get started. For questions or to schedule a day and time to deliver your masks please call the Voluntary Service Office at 410-642-1136 or email firstname.lastname@example.org. Click HERE for a shareable flyer. Harford County will be providing COVID-19 small business relief grants, paid for from Harford County’s share of the federal CARES Act funding. Small businesses with 2 to 50 employees can apply for $7,500 grants toward social distancing expenses, PPE purchases, payroll and other operating costs. Farmers with 10+ acres can apply for grants of $2,500. Applications, FAQs, and other details can be found HERE.
Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) Collection for Veterans - The VA Maryland Health Care System (VAMHCS) is currently accepting donations of unused, unopened packages of PPE, including unused N95 respirators, unopened packages of disposable gloves, and packaged, unused protective goggles. More detailed information on donation needs can be found at the VAMHCS COVID-19 Ways to Help page. Drop off your PPE donations on May 27th from 10am-2pm at the Harford County Chamber of Commerce. If you would like to make a monetary donation to purchase PPE for veterans, contact Angela at Angela@HarfordChamber.org.
NMTC VIRTUAL WATER COOLER will be held Thursday, May 28, 4:00 -5:00 PM. The ARC, presents the HOT Cooler Topic: Lessons learned keeping their office open during covid-19, and continuing hiring, interviewing and training new employees, virtually. The first 15-20 minutes covers the HOT Cooler topic, the remainder of the cooler hour we ask questions, get answers, solve problems. Register HERE.
The FY 21 PM Electronic Warfare and Cyber (EW&C) Strategic Planning Industry Event will be held via WebEx on May 29, 2020. Topics will include PM EW&C Priorities FY21-34, the needs for Industry Focus, Modular Open Systems Approaches, Equipping the Force for Multi-Domain Operations, and FY21-23 PM EW&C Contracting Opportunities. After the event, PM EW&C will schedule a series of 1 on 1 technical meetings which will be in addition to Q&A session during the event. Changing Focus: Moving From We to Me is a FREE intensive, interactive, hands-on program designed for service members and their spouses who are transitioning from active duty to the civilian sector, and veterans of any era who want to reset their transition. Changing Focus is the flagship program of the Leader Transition Institute, a 501c3 organization based in Harford County, Maryland.
The 1st Annual “Monument to Monument Run to Honor!” will be held August 29, 2020 at 9am on APG. This 5k Run/Walk is to recognize and honor our Fallen Service Members and their surviving Family members. To sign up CLICK HERE. The run is capped at 500 so be sure to register soon!
“The Magic of Science Fair and Festival,” a major science festival, at Leidos Field at Ripken Stadium in Aberdeen on Oct 17, 2020. The day will feature a regional science fair for middle school students that begins at 8 a.m. and culminates with an awards ceremony at 3 p.m. The main Festival begins at 11 a.m. and lasts until 4 p.m. There will be activities for learners of all ages, from infants to adults.
